Ko-fi Intro Video

One thing that I have wanted to set up for ko-fi was an intro video. I didn’t want to believe that at first, though.

When I started up my ko-fi page, posting a video was an impossibility. The option to link a video was there, of course, and was encouraged by ko-fi. It was impossible because of me. I didn’t know anything about video editing, and I was okay with that. Why would I even want to be in a video, anyway? Honestly, though, I wanted to have a video. (Welcome to Denial.) Still, I told myself I didn’t want or need one: making something like that, and being “okay” with it going up, was just not possible.

Except, last month, I considered it again and it was much less frightening. (It was still scary, but not the impossible kind.) I learned how to use Adobe Premiere Pro, video editing software, in December, so that I could put together timelapses of my work and share them on Youtube. Suddenly it wasn’t impossible anymore and seemed considerably less daunting. The only difference with this video is that I would be talking about me and what I do, directly, rather than about something I made.

So, here it is. I did it.

Ko-fi Monthly Raffle

Remember: anyone that supports me on ko-fi in 2021 enters into that month’s draw. The cost of a ko-fi is $3, and I have no plans to change this number.

The Details

Every supporter will now be in the month’s raffle that they offer their support, and the raffles take place the first day of the following month. (For example, those who donate in January will be in January’s raffle, which would occur February 1st.) And should you be the only supporter that month, then the winner is clear!

Winners will be able to request a portrait sketch from me of a character of their choosing!*

Sketches will be delivered later that same month, and have a sketchy quality to them as part of their charm. Also, note that a person can win multiple months consecutively, though I may change this rule when there are more supporters to ensure more people have a chance to win.

*Check out my Commission Information for what I will, and will not, draw. I reserve the right to refuse drawing a character for any reason and will give winners the chance to choose another should that occur.

Supporter Downloads

As always, supporters will have access to the Supporter Downloads album on ko-fi for 30 days from their support date. Rewards consist of colouring pages and both mobile and desktop backgrounds of my work for supporters’ personal use. I’m also open to requests and suggestions, so feel free to tell me what you’d like to see!

Upcoming Ko-fi Changes for 2021

There are exciting changes coming to my ko-fi page next year!

Why Are these Changes Coming?

As those following my work may have noticed, I disappeared for a little while. Updates became sporadic and eventually stopped. It was due to a bit of burnout, pushing myself to create when what I needed was a break to recharge and try to stay sane in the mess that is 2020.

I want to continue to create and share my work with people, and changes like this should be more sustainable for me. I may continue to change things next year, too, and am always open to feedback. These changes will all go into effect January 1st, 2021.

Let’s see how it goes!

What Will Change

New Monthly Draws
Every supporter will now be that month’s draw, and draws take place the first day of the following month. Changes to Monthly Supporter Rewards
Previously, two rewards would go up every month for all supporters in the Supporter Downloads album on Ko-fi. Rewards would consist of a background image (for a phone for desktop) and a lineart sketch for colouring. There didn’t seem to be high interest in either of these. I do want to continue providing rewards, though perhaps in a more limited fashion going forward.

Rewards may not necessarily be monthly in 2021, though I will be updated available downloads as I can. Is there something you want to see specifically? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

The cost of a ko-fi on my page, $3 USD, is staying the same! I have no plans to change this number.

Talizmyn’s May Art Update

May has been a busy month. I’ve been keeping myself busy during this time, using different tactics to motivate myself to create, learn, and improve. At the beginning of the month I was feeling particularly low and unmotivated, though my mood has since improved and I have a few goals and tasks to focus on in the coming months.

How are all of you dealing/coping/doing? What are your tricks, if any, to get yourself to focus?

I’ve had to remind myself that naps are okay, if I need to reset. I’m learning to not push myself too hard when what I really need is some rest.

May 2020 Ko-fi Special

It’s May and this month, I’m doing something special on Ko-fi!

My 35th(!) birthday is at the end of this month and I want to give something back to everyone able to support me through ko-fi. So, for the entire month of May I will create a sketch for everyone that makes a donation on my ko-fi page during the month. For the donation of one coffee ($3 USD) you will get a sketch from me. Sketches will be in the style of the examples below. $3 USD will get you a lineart sketch, and I’ll add colour to it for an extra coffee (a total of $6 USD.)

Worthy of note

When donating, please include a link to the reference you’d like me to use and let me know a couple traits about that person or character’s personality. The sketch can be of your favourite character (fanart), one of your own characters (OCs), or even from a photograph.

  • Sketches will be of the bust, 2000 x 2000 pixels and @ 150DPI. JPEG.
  • Flowers (bouquet or in a vase), Humanoid or anthropomorphic characters are accepted. (No animals at this time, please!)
  • If you prefer to not make your request public, instead of sharing details in the donation comment section you may email me instead. Include a screenshot of your donation if you can.
  • You may donate multiple coffees for multiple sketches at the same time. Just let me know!
  • Sketches will be completed throughout the month as I have time. Commissions or raffles prizes (owed from April) will take priority. Please be patient!

And if that’s not enough incentive, there are also supporter rewards available for all supporters!

Supporter Rewards

Every month, I add two new items in the Supporter Downloads folder in my gallery on Ko-fi as a thank-you to all those who have supported my work. This folder is accessible by all supporters: subscribers, who choose to donate every month, and one-off supporters, who donate one time. The main difference between the two is that subscribers will always have access to the folder, whereas one-off supporters will have access for 30 days from the time they make a donation.

Those who wish to access the Supporter Downloads folder will need to make an account on Ko-fi in order to see the folder after donating.

Talizmyn’s April Art Update

We’re at of the end of April in the year that has been a thousand-year blink. It is a vast expanse of time that has vanished between breaths. I see the work I have done over the last few months and think, “Wow, I made that so long ago.” Only, upon checking posting dates and timestamps, I discover a week, or maybe two, has passed. The months have become emotionally heavy.

At least, that is how it feels to me.
