Last update I left off with completing the Frozen painting for my niece. April turned into quite a busy month, with a slow-down in May to focus on a single project and take a small break. It also means I have a small backlog of items due to Ko-fi Supporters, and your patience is much appreciated!
elsa in Early April
Late March, I finished the painting for my niece, and not long after, I finished polishing the recorded timelapse and shared it on Youtube. Instead of recording my screen for this video, I recorded using Clip Studio Paint’s timelapse feature and exported the file when finished. This way, I got to try something a little different to make the background look more visually attractive. As a plus, there’s less “jumping around” in this image due to the nature of the recording
I like the changes – what do you think?
If you’re interested in keeping track of my uploads or want to be notified when I post a new video, check out my Youtube channel. I don’t have a set schedule yet, as I’m sharing work as I finished it, but I’m aiming for at least one video a month. Some months, like this past April, will have more than others. (May, thus far, has none.)
making a mandala
Here is my first mandala, created in Clip Studio Paint.
I have wanted to create a colouring book to sell in my ko-fi shop for some time now. I finally decided on a theme: flowers and mandalas. I’ll be placing different flowers in the center and creating 8-12 different designs to combine and sell in my shop eventually. (Maybe one for every month?)
It’s suitable for a first attempt, but it’s a bit too complex overall for a colouring page. However, it is still available for any ambitious supporters.
Check out the video if you missed me sharing it before, should you want to see the design come into being. It’s interesting even for me to look back and see my process. I can’t wait to share more of these designs with you: they’re kind of addicting to create!
Pet Portrait Commission
Next is a pet portrait commission featuring two adorably fluffy Pomeranians. The timelapse for this one is special because it’s the first timelapse I have done featuring a commission and comes with a step-by-step process on how I work. I avoid being too technical about the program I use (Clip Studio Paint) and instead focus on the actual process of creating a pet portrait.
I would love to hear your feedback once you’ve watched it! 😉
Late April: Final Fantasy XIV
Taking a break from pet portraits, I took on a commission for a Final Fantasy XIV character portrait. She is an Elezen Paladin, which is in-game world’s elf-like race, in a battle stance. (But also totally posing for the camera.)
This work took me a fair bit longer than expected, with all the intricate clothing details, jewelry, and weapons. I’m happy with how it turned out, and the client is too! I haven’t done character portraits in a while, so this was a welcome change. I’ve discovered that I really enjoy recreating weapons and armour, and I look forward to creating more portraits in the future.
Just for fun, here’s a process image that I put together, starting sketch to finished product.

There’s a timelapse recorded for this commission, too, and will be uploaded to Youtube when ready. Delays are due to an error in the file, but I’m hoping to have it finalized in the next week or two.
Keep a lookout!
May 2021: Pet Portrait Commission, corgi edition
Foxi is The Cutest Corgi I have ever seen.
The. Cutest.
Foxi the Corgi is my latest commission and a real treat to work on, both because I adore corgis and I got to try out a few new techniques to achieve a more accurate fur colour. I took special care with the eyes, as always, and added more light and colour to them in a way that, I think, makes them feel more natural, too.
And with that, I’m now caught up on commissions! :3
upcoming
Raffle prizes for March and April are in the works, and I’ll be sharing those as I finish them! For those interesting in joining the raffle, there is still time to join in for this month. Remember, $3 gets you an entry into the raffle for a sketch, plus many other fun things like early access to art and videos, seeing my to-do lists, and additional downloads.
I have a video detailing it all on my ko-fi page!
